Authors: Copur MS, Wurdeman JM, Nelson D, Ramaekers R, Gauchan D, Crockett D Abstract Solid tumors involving glandular organs express mucin glycoprotein which is eventually shed into the circulation. As aresult these proteins can easily be measured in the serum and be used as potential tumor markers. The most commonly used tumor markers for breast cancer are CA 27-29 and CA 15-3, which both measure the glycoprotein product of the mucin-1 (MUC1) gene. CA 27-29 has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for monitoring disease activity in breast cancer patients. Most oncology clinical practice guidelines...

This study utilized a longitudinal study. IHC and qRT-PCR methods were used for detection of Ki-67 expression. Chemotherapy response was calculated using RECIST. Data were analyzed with Chi-square and Wilcoxon's test. Results: There were 48 subjects in this study. Analysis of Ki-67 expression with chemotherapy response has a significant correlation with p = 0.025 (

Authors: Lei Y, Yu D, Bin Z, Yang Y Abstract Clustering algorithm as a basis of data analysis is widely used in analysis systems. However, as for the high dimensions of the data, the clustering algorithm may overlook the business relation between these dimensions especially in the medical fields. As a result, usually the clustering result may not meet the business goals of the users. Then, in the clustering process, if it can combine the knowledge of the users, that is, the doctor's knowledge or the analysis intent, the clustering result can be more satisfied. In this paper, we propose an interactive K-means cluste...

In this report, we compared levels of myeloid cells between these two common cancers and have added data from more cancer patients. We also investigated associations between clinical stage/histological grade of tumors and levels of myeloid cells in cancer patients. We found that although granulocytic myeloid cells were expanded in the TME of both PBC and CRC patients, the levels of these cells were significantly higher in the TME of CRC patients. Moreover, our results indicate that increased levels of circulating granulocytic myeloid cells are associated with poorly differentiated tumors in CRC patients. Taken together, th...
