Antibiotic prophylaxis for elective hysterectomy

Analysis of 37 RCTs suggests antibiotic prophylaxis appears to be effective in preventing postoperative infection in women undergoing elective vaginal/abdominal hysterectomy, regardless of dose regimen. Studies included were old, thus findings may not reflect current practice.
