CONCLUSION: In women treated with history-indicated cerclage or ultrasound-indicated cerclage, 2nd trimester cervical volume and 3rd trimester FI and VFI are independent significant sonographic findings associated with time to delivery.RESUMO OBJETIVOS: Determinar quais caracter ísticas ultrassonográficas obtidas por meio da ultrassonografia transvaginal bidimensional (USG TV 2D) e tridimensional (USG TV 3D) associam-se ao parto prematuro em gestantes submetidas à cerclagem profilática e terapêutica. MÉTODOS: Sessenta e seis gestantes com feto único submetidas à ce rcl...

Take the challenge. B or D—If it was not documented, it was not done is the motto of many coders. For those who follow this motto, the answer would be B. But there is another option for the coder and that is to query the physician about whether the injection was done with ultrasound guidance... [Read More]

Abstract Ankle impingement syndromes encompass various pathologic entities that contribute to ankle pain with limited range of motion. Although classically described in athletes, these changes can occur in individuals of all ages, often with a history of prior ankle trauma. Ankle impingement is broadly categorized as anterolateral, anterior, posterior, anteromedial, and posteromedial, depending on the area of the ankle affected. Both osseous and soft tissue abnormalities can contribute to impingement symptoms, and a combination of these is often present. Multiple imaging modalities have been evaluated in the work-...

We present a novel method for repair of a case of aneurysm of arteriovenous fistula resulting from stenosis. A 52-year-old woman presented with aneurysm formation of the left upper arm arteriovenous fistula, with related numbness in the left hand. Clinical examination revealed a tense, pulsatile aneurysm above the brachiocephalic anastomosis. Ultrasound examination revealed an aneurysm (50 mm × 25 mm) with proximal stenosis and an arteriovenous fistula flow rate above 1200 mL/min. An incision was made lateral to the aneurysm from the brachiocephalic anastomosis to the proximal stenosis through the antec...

This study explores the feasibility of using power ultrasound (PuS) to intensify heat transfer during the mild thermal treatment of dry-cured ham immersed in a liquid medium. For that purpose, a temperature controlled ultrasonic bath was used to avoid the water temperature rise due to cavitation during ultrasonic application, which could mask the actual effect of ultrasound in heat transport mechanisms. Experiments were carried out using dry-cured ham slices (thickness 2 cm), which were heated at different temperatures (40, 45, 50 °C) with (PuS) and without (conventional mechanical stirring, CV) ultrasonic assistan...
