SUMMARY The present quasi-experimental study aimed to assess the transversus abdominis (TrA), internal oblique (IO) and external oblique (EO) thickness in healthy subjects with the proprioceptive Stabilizer ™ training in abdominal wall muscles. A sample of 41 healthy participants (age: 31.9 ± 4.5 y; height: 1.7 ± 0.1 m; weight: 68.3 ± 13.1 kg; body mass index, BMI: 22.9 ± 2.7 kg/m2) were recruited to participate in this study. Ultrasound images of the EO, IO, TrA, rectus anterior (RA) and interrecti distance (IRD) were measured and analyzed by the ImageJ software. Measurements were made at...

The authors present a case report of a 35-year-old male who was submitted to an eventless left external dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) due to epiphora. During the surgery no tumors or anomalous tissues were visualized. Five months later the patient presented...
Piriformis syndrome is a controversial entrapment neuropathyWhat is piriformis muscle? The piriformis muscle is a small but important external rotator of the hip that crosses the sciatic nerve and is believed by some to cause sciatica-type pain when it compresses the nerve. However, the existence of this so-called "piriformis syndrome" remains controversial and diagnosis is difficult.Controversy is due to the limited research about the condition and the difficulty of making the diagnosis, particularly as symptoms mimic many other more common diagnoses. How common is it?Piriformis syndrome may account for 0.3-...
CONCLUSION: The PRP and Tenex procedures were both successful in producing clinically and statistically significant improvements in pain, function, and quality of life. PMID: 30551782 [PubMed - in process]
In this study, the effect of a subcutaneous spacer injection on the skin dose, late skin toxicity, and cosmetic outcome is tested in patients treated with PBSI in the setting of breast-conserving therapy. Our results will be relevant for most forms of breast brachytherapy as well as robotic radiosurgery, as skin spacers could protect the skin with these other techniques.Trial registrationNetherlands Trial Register,NTR6549. The goal of this study was to evaluate various clinicopathologic and imaging characteristics as independent predictors of axillary pathologic complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) and to determine the added value of a model that integrates imaging characteristics of ultrasound (US) restaging with known clinicopathologic characteristics. A total of 227 clinically node-positive breast cancer patients underwent axillary US after NAC (termed US restaging) before surgery. We constructed a clinicopathologic model with independent predictors of clinicopathologic characteristics in multivariate analyses.
Ultrasound imaging remains out of reach for most pregnant women in developing countries because it requires a trained sonographer to acquire and interpret the images. We address this problem by presenting a system that can automatically estimate the fetal head circumference (HC) from data obtained with use of the obstetric sweep protocol (OSP). The OSP consists of multiple pre-defined sweeps with the ultrasound transducer over the abdomen of the pregnant woman. The OSP can be taught within a day to any health care worker without prior knowledge of ultrasound.
