Psychometric Properties of Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy in Thai Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients: A Multicenter Study.

This study recruited patients from outpatient diabetes clinics of both community and university hospitals. The first phases of this study involved translation of the existing DMSES into Thai, and in the second phase, we evaluated its psychometric properties. The construct validity was evaluated using confirmatory factor analysis. Criterion validity of DMSES was subsequently evaluated by examining DMSES's association with HbA1c control. Results: The T-DMSES contains 20 items across four factors. Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated the construct validity of T-DMSES (χ2 = 645.142, df = 164, p

AbstractObesity represents a continuously growing global epidemic and is associated with the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The etiology of type 2 diabetes is related to the resistance of insulin-sensitive tissues to its action leading to impaired blood glucose regulation. Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy might be a non-pharmacological, non-invasive strategy to improve insulin resistance. It has been reported that PBM therapy in combination with physical exercise reduces insulin resistance. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of PBM therapy on insulin resistance in obese mice. Male Swi...

In this study, we focused on whole utilization of a sturgeon and prepared collagen peptides (SCP) from sturgeon by‐products. The yield of SCP was approximately 100 g SCP/kg wet by‐products. In animal experiments, SCP showed hypoglycemic effect. Moreover, the effect is probably caused by Gly‐X‐Y repetitive sequences derived from the triple helical region of a collagen molecule. The mechanism might be related to DPP‐IV inhibitory activity. SCP was white, odorless, and easily soluble in water and it could be advantages in using SCP as an ingredient for functional foods preventing Type 2 diabetes mellitus. The by‐p...

Authors: Huang H, Shetty S, Bauer E, Lang K Abstract OBJECTIVE: To estimate the proportion of patients with moderate to severe chronic kidney disease (CKD) whose initial DPP4-i dosage was concordant with prescribing information (label) recommendations in the United States. METHODS: Adult patients with T2DM who initiated a DPP4-i (linagliptin, sitagliptin, saxagliptin) between Jan 1, 2011 and Jun 30, 2014 were identified using electronic medical records and administrative claims, with index date being the date of first observed DPP4-i treatment. Patients were required to have CKD Stage 3b, 4 or 5 (eGFR value

Authors: Bazargan-Hejazi S, Arroyo JS, Hsia S, Brojeni NR, Pan D Abstract Objective: To investigate: 1) the racial/ethnic disparities in meeting the recommended physical activity as measured by subjective vs objective measures in a national sample of individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus; and 2) the racial/ethnic differences with respect to the magnitude of the discrepancy between self-reported and objectively measured moderate-to-vigorous intensity aerobic physical activity (MVPA). Methods: We used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2003-06 to calculate and compare the ...
