Case Study 2: Cutting Through the Web of Violence: Samoa

International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. 01/01/2017 This 22-page report presents a case study on Samoa from a global study on gender-based violence in disasters in 2015 across the Asia-Pacific, Africa, Latin America and Caribbean, and Europe regions. Samoa is a disaster-prone country, in which 70 percent of the population lives along the coastline, exposing them to cyclones, tsunamis, and flooding. The research reveals that persons displaced by disasters in Samoa are at higher risk of gender-based violence than those who manage to stay in their communities. (PDF)
