A rare case of esophageal lymphoepithelial carcinoma without Epstein –Barr virus infection

A 74-year-old Japanese man presented with a one-month history of dysphagia. Computed tomography revealed a 30 ×22mm tumor in the upper esophagus, mediastinal lymph nodes, and a tumor 20mm in diameter that had metastasized to the liver. In addition, esophagogastroscopy showed a giant submucosal tumor with an ulcer, located 20cm from the incisors (Fig. 1A).
