Private and institutionalised patients' use of homeopathy in the early nineteenth century.
Private and institutionalised patients' use of homeopathy in the early nineteenth century. Homeopathy. 2017 Nov;106(4):250-259 Authors: Waisse S Abstract Medicine underwent a major crisis in the 18th century and several approaches, including homeopathy, were formulated to fill the void left by the fall of traditional Galenic medicine. While most of the literature deals with the reasons doctors had to shift to homeopathy, the patients' views became the focus of increasing scholarly attention along the past 20 years. In this article I present and discuss the current knowledge about the socio-demographic characteristics and medical complaints of patients who sought homeopathic care in the early 19th century in both private and institutional settings. The results show that not only patients from the higher and more educated classes sought homeopathic care, but a considerable number of individuals from the middle and lower strata did so too, even though they also had access to conventional hospitals. As to the clinical complaints, the reasons to seek homeopathic care were the typical ones for any general practice or hospital in the period considered. PMID: 29157474 [PubMed - in process]

ConclusionsTherefore, cultivation with homeopathy does not induce a genotoxic effect in the use of infusions and essential oil of chamomile, favoring the sustainable cultivation and the safe use of this medicinal species when cultivated with homeopathy.Graphical abstract
CONCLUSIONS: Aspirin 15 cH acts through the inhibition of the COX-2 pathway producing a clear pro-thrombotic effect. Further studies should clarify if the pro-thrombotic effect of aspirin withdrawal and the effect of aspirin 15 cH are related, as secondary effects of the same drug. Clarifying this last outcome may be of great significance to public health. PMID: 31005060 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Abstract Background: Acute cough is the most common symptom among children in primary care, but the impact of cough episodes was never investigated in Italian families. Methods: A cross-sectional telephone survey was conducted on a representative sample of Italian families, randomly selected from general population; a specific and validated questionnaire was used. Results: The sample (604 calls) was uniform by geographical distribution, and by children age and gender. Mean cough episode was 3.1/year, they were short lasting (only 4.7%> 2 weeks). Independent predictors of children cough e...
s-Quevedo A, Rodríguez-Jaramillo C Abstract BACKGROUND: Homeopathy has been widely applied in freshwater species but rarely in marine fish. Farm stress destabilises host-pathogen equilibrium, favouring parasites and disease. Coccidian endoparasites cause intestinal infections and cell degeneration. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Naturally parasite-infested juvenile snapper Lutjanus guttatus (n = 430; weight 1.9 ± 0.01 g; length 4.9 ± 0.03 cm) specimens were distributed in group sizes of 43, in 10 fiberglass tanks (100 L) with aeration and cont...
CONCLUSIONS: Phos 200 cH has a modulatory action on the activity of infected macrophages, especially a specific increase in RANTES, a key element in the prognosis of E. cuniculi-infected and of immunosuppressed patients bearing infections. PMID: 30999383 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
