Prevalence of pelvic Paget's disease of bone in France

Paget's disease of bone (PDB) is the second most common metabolic bone disease after osteoporosis, even if its prevalence is decreasing, as pointed out in two recent articles published in the Journal [1,2]. The prevalence of PDB is difficult to assess as the vast majority of the patients affected are asymptomatic and the disorder is focal in nature. The main surveys that attempted to determine its prevalence used standard radiographs of the pelvis or of the abdomen where the lumbar vertebrae, pelvis, sacrum and the upper part of both femurs can be observed, regions that are the most affected by the condition.
