Determining the Physician-to-Patient Ratio in Post-Acute/Long-Term Care Using an Economic Model

There has been significant interest in providing both quality of care and fiscally responsible care with the advent of value-based medicine. Practitioners generally need more time to provide the excellence in care that will equate to improved quality and patient outcomes. Salaried and traditional fee-for-service –based care both depend on adequate revenues being generated. The pressure to produce income means seeing more patients per day, whereas the goal of quality of care will tend to produce fewer visits per day.
