Response to the Letter to the Editor by Simon D. Smith “Recall Tests Can Be Effective to Detect Mild Cognitive Impairment: A Response to Tsoi and Colleagues”

In the response letter to our recent article, Smith1 and his colleagues  made a constructive suggestion to remind the users of cognitive tests in the aging population. Elderly people may have different levels of physical constrains, such as progressive deterioration of auditory acuity, that may affect the performance of cognitive screening tests, especially for both th e Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE)2 and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA),3 which require verbal interchange between health professionals and the elderly participants.
