Evolution of DWI lesions in cerebral amyloid angiopathy: Evidence for ischemia
Conclusions: Based on their neuroimaging signature as well as their association with chronic cortical CMIs, DWI lesions appear to have an ischemic origin and represent one part of the CMI spectrum.
AbstractRecent reports identify NLR (the ratio between absolute neutrophils counts, ANC, and absolute lymphocyte count, ALC), as predictor of progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in cancer patients. We retrospectively tested NLR and LMR (the ratio between absolute lymphocyte and monocyte counts) in newly diagnosed Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) patients treated upfront with a PET-2 risk-adapted strategy. NLR and LMR were calculated using records obtained from the complete blood count (CBC) from 180 newly diagnosed HL patients. PFS was evaluated accordingly to Kaplan-Meier method. Higher NLR was associated to ad...
CONCLUSION: Decreased SpO2 was a significant predictor of abnormal mitral Doppler flow. Diastolic dysfunction should be considered when SpO2 ≤ 95% is found. PMID: 29671629 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Authors: Caviglia GP, Ribaldone DG, Abate ML, Ciancio A, Pellicano R, Smedile A, Saracco GM Abstract OBJECTIVES: In the setting of surveillance for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) detection, the use of serum biomarkers in addition to ultrasonography (US) is still a matter of debate. Hence, we performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist-II (PIVKA-II) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) alone or in combination for HCC detection in patients at risk of tumor development. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed a systematic search in PubMed and Scopus databa...

Conclusion: In this pilot study, elevated CT was associated with a risk of developing CCH as well as CSCR in patients of varying ages. Patients diagnosed with CCH should be screened for CSCR in the fellow eye. Further exploration of this association may reveal useful clues about the biology of abnormally elevated choroidal hyperpermeability and its various clinical manifestations.Ocul Oncol Pathol

CONCLUSION: Failure to recognize blunt trauma mechanism following firearm wounds increases the risk of missed injuries. Distant injuries should be suspected in all cases after blast wave and firearms exposure and a follow up should be done for many days to make sure such injuries are excluded. CT scan total body is recommended in all such cases. Key words: Blunt trauma, Distant Injuries, Firearm injuries, Pressure Waves. PMID: 29667607 [PubMed - in process]
