One Versus 2-stent Strategy for the Treatment of Bifurcation Lesions in the Context of a Coronary Chronic Total Occlusion. A Multicenter Registry

Conclusions Bifurcation lesions in CTO can be approached similarly to regular bifurcation lesions, for which provisional stenting is considered the technique of choice. After propensity score matching, there were no differences in procedural or mid-term clinical outcomes between the simple and complex strategies.

ConclusionsAn increase in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures was reported in 2018, particularly in primary percutaneous coronary interventions. The use of the radial approach and complex procedures also increased. The number of structural procedures rose significantly, following the trend seen in recent years.

Conclusion The current study demonstrates that in patients with severe aortic valve stenosis or regurgitation and mitral valve prosthesis, the implantation of a self-expanding aortic valve via the transfemoral route is safe and feasible, with maintained long-term results.

Psoriasis is associated with elevated risk of heart attack as well as increased accumulation of subclinical non-calcified coronary burden by coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). Machine learning algorithms have been shown to effectively analyze well characterized datasets.

Abstract BACKGROUND: Fibulin-1 and fibulin-5 belong to the fibulin family of extracellular glycoproteins. Both are expressed in the vessel wall and believed to have protective properties against vascular damage. AIMS: We aimed to investigate whether fibulin -1 and-5 have any role in ruling out non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) in the emergency setting. METHODS: Forty-eight patients were enrolled in the NSTEMI group and 42 subjects (who presented with chest pain and were diagnosed as non-coronary chest pain after comprehensive evaluation including coronary angiography were recruited in the c...

Authors: Sarak T, Karadeniz M Abstract Background/aim: In the present study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between NT-proBNP and SYNTAX score, which is a measure of the complexity of coronary artery disease. Materials and methods: We enrolled 405 consecutive patients with myocardial infarction who underwent coronary angiographic examination. Patients were divided into 3 groups according to their SYNTAX scores. Those with SYNTAX score ≤22 were included in the low SYNTAX score group (LSTX), those with a score of 23–32 were included in the intermediate SYNTAX score group (ISTX), and those with ...

It is estimated that each year in the United States,>780,000 persons will experience an acute coronary syndrome. Approximately 70% of these will have non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). Optimal timing of angiography in NSTEMI is a matter of debate. The aim of this retrospective analysis was to evaluate whether and how the timing of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) affects the 1-year rate of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in patients presenting with NSTEMI. Within our PCI database, we identified 1550 patients who underwent PCI for NSTEMI.

Yasada et  al (N Engl J Med 2019;381:1103, PMID 31475793) conducted a prospective randomized multicenter trial of 2236 patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who had undergone percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary artery bypass grafting more than 1 year earlier or who had angiographically confirmed coronary artery disease not requiring revascularization. Patients were randomized to monotherapy with rivaroxaban or combination therapy with rivaroxaban plus a single antiplatelet agent. The primary efficacy end point was a composite of stroke, systemic embolism, myocardial infarction, unstable ang ina requiring r...
