VA secretary seeks $782M for Cerner contract

Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin is pushing to get funding for a contract with Cerner Corp. (Nasdaq: CERN). The Department of Veterans Affairs hopes to coordinate its deployment of a new electronic health record system with the Department of Defense, which just finished installing a new Cerner EHR at four pilot sites. Initially, Shulkin requested Congress reprogram $782 million for 2018. He did not publicly named a total cost estimate for the project, but Shulkin said it would cost "billions"…
