Effect of the Extended Inverted Classroom on clinical simulation for the resuscitation of trauma patients: Pilot study of student perceptions of learning

Conclusions The EIC model involving clinical simulation for the resuscitation of trauma patients has a positive effect on student perceptions of learning in the short term. Further studies are required to evaluate this model in other scenarios of resuscitation, critical care and emergencies, as well as to measure their effect on long-term learning.

We report on the advance of freeze-dried mucoadhesive orodispersible tablets (ODTs) loaded with prilocaine (PRC) and lidocaine (LDC) hydrochlorides, aiming to promote noninvasive buccal anesthesia. The influences of combining biocompatible polymers (pullulan and HPMC K100 LV) and a blend of surfactants (oleic acid, polysorbate 80 and propylene glycol) acting as chemical enhancers on the permeation of such drugs through the esophageal porcine epithelium and in vitro mucoadhesion were investigated. The ODTs were also characterized in terms of average weight, thickness, pH, drug content, in vitro release, thermal behavior and...

LadavièreAbstractThis work describes the characterization of an original liposomes/hydrogel assembly, and its application as a delayed-release system of antibiotics and anaesthetics. This system corresponds to drug-loaded liposomes entrapped within a chitosan (CS) physical hydrogel. To this end, a suspension of pre-formed 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocoline liposomes loaded with an antibiotic (rifampicin, RIF), an anaesthetic (lidocaine, LID), or a model fluorescent molecule (car...

Conclusion: The Ki–SURstat correlations were considerably stronger than the Ki–SUV correlations. The good Ki–SURstat correlations suggest that static 18F-FDG PET/CT and SURstat analysis provides an alternative to dynamic 18F-FDG PET/CT and Patlak analysis, allowing the assessment of inflammation of whole lungs, repeated measurements within the period of 18F-FDG decay, and faster data acquisition.

ConclusionsWe found that PMTS approach was superior as a means of achieving epidural access relative to the PMSS approach, since PMTS approach can be conducted more quickly given shorter path of the needle and less times needed for epidural access during this procedure.Clinical trial registrationChinese Clinical Trial Registry, clinical trial number ChiCTR1800015815, date of registration April 24, 2018.

AbstractBackgroundEndometriosis can exert obvious negative effects on women ’s quality of life.Excisional surgery is among the most effective treatments for severe pelvic endometriosis. The prevalence of severe pelvic adhesions following a laparoscopic examination of severe endometriosis varies between 50 and 100%. Temporary intraoperative ovarian suspension is a method for the reduction of adhesions is in the treatment of severe pelvic endometriosis. Given the importance and the prevalence of endometriosis and its complications, we conducted the present study to determine more effective adhesion-reducing methods wit...
