Investigating the generalisation of an atlas-based synthetic-CT algorithm to another centre and MR scanner for prostate MR-only radiotherapy.

This study suggests that the atlas-based algorithm can be generalised to MR data acquired using a different field strength at a different centre. PMID: 29076457 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

This study was to assess the feasibility of a modified multiphasic CT scan protocol combined with homemade software measurements of glomerular filtration rate (CT-GFR) and explore the effect of renal tumor volume on the calculation of CT-GFR.Materials and MethodsProspective observational study comparing three methods of GFR measurement from February 2017 to December 2017, 91 patients with unilateral renal tumor underwent both a modified multiphasic CT scans of kidney and serum creatinine (Scr) tests preoperatively, of which 15 cases underwent additional radionuclide examination. Total and split CT-GFR, with or without rena...

This article also reviews current types of equipment, X-ray power requirements, voxel sizes, resolutions, and unit cell size effects on permeability computation. The aspects relating to microstructural characteristics, such as tow geometry changes, inter and intra tow gap variations during compaction, which have direct influence on reinforcement permeability, are also discussed. This paper also highlights key limitations associated with the permeability predictions faced at various stages and identifies where improvements can be made.

;š M Abstract Superior Shoulder Suspensory Complex (SSSC) is a bone and soft-tissue ring securing the connection of the upper extremity to the axial skeleton via the clavicle and sternoclavicular joint. An isolated injury to one component of SSSC is usually stable. An injury to 2 of its components is a potential source of shoulder girdle instability and requires surgical stabilisation. An injury affecting 3 and more components is extremely rare and surgical stabilisation should be indicated. Our study presents the case of a 50-year-old man who fell off the bicycle and sustained a direct blow to his left sho...

AbstractSmoking is a major risk factor for dental implant failure. In addition to higher marginal bone loss around implants, the cellular and molecular responses to injury and implant physicochemical properties are also differentially affected in smokers. The purpose of this work is to determine if smoking impairs bone microstructure and extracellular matrix composition within the dental alveolar socket after tooth extraction. Alveolar bone biopsies obtained fromSmokers (>  10 cigarettes per day for at least 10 years) andCtrl (never-smokers), 7 –146 months after tooth extraction, were investigated...

Purpose: To investigate the correlation between 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) metabolic parameters and clinicopathological factors in pathological subtypes of invasive lung adenocarcinoma and prognosis.Patients and Methods: Metabolic parameters and clinicopathological factors from 176 consecutive patients with invasive lung adenocarcinoma between August 2008 and August 2016 who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT examination were retrospectively analyzed. Invasive lung adenocarcinoma was divided into five pathological subtypes:lepidic predominant adenocarcinoma (LPA), acinar ...
