KC orthopedists: Medicare program improved joint replacements

Two Kansas City orthopedic practices reduced costs and improved patient outcomes under a model that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently proposed to cancel. Apex Orthopedics and the Kansas City Bone and Joint Clinic, both members of Signature Medical Group, reduced the average cost of joint replacements for Medicare patients by an average of 21 percent, or $4,900.
