[Correspondence] The 2014 Yazidi genocide and its effect on Yazidi diaspora

Throughout history, the Yazidis have suffered from systematic destruction, deprivation of their religious and socioeconomic rights, and other human rights violations. This community has experienced multiple traumas on both the individual and collective levels.1 Since the so-called Islamic State's attack on Yazidi settlements in Northern Iraq on Aug 3, 2014, 3100 Yazidis have been killed and 6800 have been kidnapped.2 Germany's Yazidi community is the largest Yazidi diaspora, and many of these individuals have relatives in Iraq and Syria.
