Abstract Ischemic colitis primarily affects the elderly with underlying disease, but it rarely occurs in young adults with risk factors, such as coagulopathy or vascular disorder. Moreover, it is extremely rare in the very young without risk factors. This paper presents a patient with ischemic colitis associated with heat stroke and rhabdomyolysis after intense exercise under high-temperature conditions. A 20-year-old man presented with mental deterioration after a vigorous soccer game for more than 30 minutes in sweltering weather. He also presented with hematochezia with abdominal pain. The laboratory tests reve...

Abstract Pancreatic cancer is a dismal disease with a poor prognosis and is one of the most painful malignancies. Therefore, adequate pain control is essential to improving the patient's quality of life. Pain in pancreatic cancer has complex pathophysiologic mechanisms and different characteristics. The choice of pain management modalities should be individualized depending on the pain characteristics using a multidisciplinary approach. The treatment options available include medical treatment, chemotherapy, celiac plexus/ganglion neurolysis, radiotherapy, and endoscopic technique. This review discusses the medica...

Abstract Introduction: The outcome of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is significantly influenced by the total tissue ischemic time. In spite of efforts for reducing the in-hospital delay by full-time provision of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (P-PCI) in the 24/7 program, pre-hospital delay still persists. As a first report in Iran, we aimed to assess the duration of pre-hospital delay and its contributing factors in STEMI patients in the P-PCI era. Methods: The present cross-sectional study evaluated 2103 STEMI patients who underwent primary PCI from 2016 to 2018. Demographic, persona...

Conclusion: Considering the lower levels of CA-125 in patients with AA compared with NAA cases and also weak screening performance characteristics, it seems that it could not be considered as an accurate screening tool in this regard. PMID: 31432034 [PubMed]

ConclusionInterceptive treatment improves the position of PDC and reduces the chances of impaction. Significant changes in success rate depend on diagnosis at early mixed dentition stage. A combination of interceptive measures which includes extraction of primary canine, cervical pull headgear, TPA and RME aided in successful eruption. However, Randomized clinical trials with increased sample size, proper randomization comparing all the interceptive measures along with assessment of other factors such as patient satisfaction, pain experience and cost factor will yield more evidence based conclusions.RésuméObj...

CONCLUSIONS: Given the potential value of PRF, consideration should be given to PRF after tooth extraction. However, more high-quality trials are necessary to evaluate the exact role of PRF. PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: Based on the authors' results, the usage of PRF was suggested in alveolar ridge preservation. PMID: 31439204 [PubMed - in process]
