Case Report: Cutaneous Metastasis of Lung Carcinoma
Cutaneous lesions can represent a primary dermatologic process, or be a sign of a systemic disorder. Of emergency department visits for skin complaints, infection/cellulitis is the most common diagnosis (representing > 50% of cases), followed by dermatitis and urticaria (1). However, certain skin lesions are signs of a systemic disease, such as in patients with autoimmune disorders (the characteristic butterfly rash of systemic lupus erythematosus) and systemic infections (Kaposi sarcoma associated with human im munodeficiency virus/AIDS).
