Restless leg syndrome (RLS) [1] is a condition that affects up to 10% of the population with up to 2% being significantly affected. The cardinal symptoms are (1) an Urge to move the legs usually associated with an uncomfortable or unpleasant sensation in the legs; (2) Rest or inactivity worsen these symptoms; (3) Gets better with exercise and (4) Evening and night accentuation. RLS has an important genetic component to its etiology, however, environmental/acquired factors contribute and an important one seems to be reduced CNS iron availability.
