Cost-utility analyses of cataract surgery in vision-threatening diabetic retinopathy

I would like to point out methodology problems in Zhu et  al.’s article on cost-utility analysis of cataract surgery in patients with vision-threatening diabetic retinopathy.1 The utility values were calculated using an incorrect time tradeoff method, which is intended to ask patients how many years of life they would trade in return for a desirable he alth outcome.
