Wayne State receives major NIH grant to develop novel treatment for blinding eye infection

(Wayne State University - Office of the Vice President for Research) A Wayne State University research team recently received a $1.9 million grant from the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health to develop new treatment approaches for endophthalmitis, a severe inflammation of the interior of the eye caused by contaminating microorganisms that enter the eye following trauma or surgery -- notably cataract surgery.
