An international consortium identifies the breast cancer patients who would benefit from a treatment

(Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona)) This new knowledge may be key to the early detection of patients who would benefit from zoledronic acid and those who should be spared, and it may accelerate the administration of the first preventive treatment of metastasis.

Conclusions: Despite obtaining some organoids from a surgical or biopsy specimen is not a difficult procedure, the establishment of a stable organoid line able to grow and replicate, suitable for long-term biobank storage, is not so obvious. A novel, simple and quick procedure to obtain PDO from surgical and biopsy samples is here proposed to achieve high success rate . PMID: 31223292 [PubMed]

Abstract OBJECTIVES: To examine the impact of diabetes on the symptoms of women with breast cancer. SAMPLE & SETTING: 121 women with breast cancer who self-identified as having a diabetes diagnosis and 1,006 women with breast cancer without diabetes from 97 sites across the United States. METHODS & VARIABLES: Symptom scores for depression, anxiety, sexual function, peripheral neuropathy, physical function, attention function, sleep disturbance, and fatigue were compared between women with breast cancer and diabetes and women with breast cancer without diabetes, controlling for age, education, inc...

Many older patients have cardiovascular comorbidity and risk greater toxicity from therapy. Treatment therefore requires careful consideration, especially since trials include few patients over 65 and so provide limited guidance. A multidisciplinary task force of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology cond...

The high levels of endogenous DNA damage in triple ‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells makeRECQL5 essential, and therefore a potential drug target against TNBC. AbstractTriple ‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a malignancy that currently lacks targeted therapies. The majority of TNBCs can be characterized as basal‐like and has an expression profile enriched with genes involved in DNA damage repair and checkpoint response. Here, we report that TNBC cells are under repl ication stress and are constantly generating DNA double‐strand breaks, which is not seen in non‐TNBC cells. Consequently, we found thatRECQL5, whi...

Therefore, the aim of the current investigation was to formulate and optimize a nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) based parenteral formulation of RSV for its effective delivery to breast cancer ...

Authors: Behera AK, Kumar M, Shanmugam MK, Bhattacharya A, Rao VJ, Bhat A, Vasudevan M, Gopinath KS, Mohiyuddin A, Chatterjee A, Sethi G, Kundu TK Abstract Coactivator associated arginine methyltransferase 1 (CARM1) has been functionally implicated in maintenance of pluripotency, cellular differentiation and tumorigenesis; where it plays regulatory roles by virtue of its ability to coactivate transcription as well as to modulate protein function as an arginine methyltransferase. Previous studies establish an oncogenic function of CARM1 in the context of colorectal and breast cancer, which correlate to its overexpre...
