Secretary ’ s Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (SACHRP) - October 2017 (Day 1)

Event Description: SACHRP provides expert advice and recommendations to the Secretary, through the Assistant Secretary for Health, on issues and topics pertaining to or associated with the protection of human research subjects. The committee is composed of 11 appointed voting members, with additional ex-officio members from Common Rule government agencies. SACHRP presently has two working subcommittees, the Subpart A Subcommittee (SAS) and the Subcommittee on Harmonization (SOH). The October 17, 2017 meeting will begin with a presentation on OHRP ’ s new public outreach website, About Research Participation, and will continue with reports from both subcommittees on areas related to the revised final rule. The SOH will discuss recommendations on HIPAA and exemption § 104(d)(4)(iii), while the SAS will present recommendations concerning the expedited review list, § 110, and the interpretation of “ context ” as it relates to exceptions from single IRB review.
