Cleveland Clinic researchers reveal biomarker for guiding prostate cancer treatment

(Cleveland Clinic) Back-to-back discoveries from Cleveland Clinic demonstrate for the first time how a testosterone-related genetic abnormality can help predict individual patient responses to specific prostate cancer therapies. The studies, published in the Oct. 12 issue of JAMA Oncology, suggest that men who inherit this variant would benefit from a personalized treatment plan that targets specific hormonal pathways.

CONCLUSION: In this population-based cohort of patients with incidental prostate cancer diagnosed at radical cystoprostatectomy, we found no impact of incidental prostate cancer on overall mortality, regardless of Gleason score, surgical margin status and pathological T-category. Conclusion: We reported the synergistic anti-tumor efficacy of ZD55-IL-24 and DTX on prostate cancer. Our results suggest that chemotherapy combined with oncolytic adenovirus mediated gene therapy is a promising strategy for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer.

ConclusionsThe emergence of new drugs for mCRPC has improved treatment options dramatically. Currently, systemic treatment options for mCRPC include hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radionuclide therapy as well as bone-modifying agents and palliative or supportive measures.
