Priyadarsini, Vimal K. Jain 2,2′-Diselenobis(3-pyridinol), [2-C5H3N(3-OH)Se]2 (DISPOL) (1) and 3-hydroxypyridine-2-(1H) selone (2) were synthesized and characterized by microanalyses, NMR (1H, 13C{1H}, and 77Se{1H}) spectroscopy. The 1 on recrystallization from various organic and aqueous solutions resulted in different polymorphs which were unambiguously characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses at room as well as low temperatures. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) of 1 confirmed the existence of two polymorphs. The bulk 1 and its polymorphs exhibited potent cytotoxicity against A549 human lung carcinoma cells (IC50 values ≈ 10 μM). The compound is thermodynamically stable and is a promising candidate for further pharmacological studies as a cytotoxic agent. Graphical abstract

In conclusion, our findings indicate that IL-4/STAT6 signaling in CD11b+ cells promotes lung cancer progression by triggering an IL-4 positive feedback loop and increasing M2 myeloid cells. STAT6 may be a new therapeutic target for the prevention and treatment of lung cancer.

AbstractPancytopenia is a rare complication among patients with breast cancer. Here, we report a case of pancytopenia due to massive bone marrow carcinomatosis (BMC) developed after local radiotherapy following to mastectomy. A 48-year-old woman with locally advanced breast cancer underwent mastectomy and axillary lymph node dissection. During adjuvant chemotherapy, rapidly growing supraclavicular lymph node metastasis was noted, so chemotherapy was discontinued and local radiotherapy was performed. There was no myelosuppression or systemic metastases prior to radiotherapy, but 2 weeks after the completion of radiotherapy,...

Abstract The combined immunotherapy of nivolumab and ipilimumab causes a variety of autoimmune-related adverse events (irAEs). The current report details a 70-year-old woman with clear cell renal cell carcinoma metastasis in the lung. Two weeks after two courses of treatment, the patient complained of headache, dizziness and nausea. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis revealed an elevated protein level of 195 mg/dl and a significantly elevated white blood cell (WBC) count of 830/mm3 (lymphocytes, 825/mm3; neutrophils, 5/mm3). The results excluded malignancy and infection. The patient was diagnosed with aseptic meni...

CONCLUSIONWe described the first case of renal pericytic tumor, addressing uncertain malignant potential, in a Korean male, which would be a distinct mesenchymal neoplasm differentiating from other groups of perivascular tumor families based on histological and immunohistochemical features.

Authors: Abdulkarim M, Zenouzi R, Sebode M, Schulz L, Quaas A, Lohse AW, Schramm C, Weiler-Normann C Abstract Objectives: Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the small intrahepatic bile ducts disproportionally affecting women. Timely diagnosis and treatment can often prevent progression to liver cirrhosis. We hypothesized PBC diagnosis in male patients is delayed and prognosis impaired. We, therefore, conducted a case-control study and compared clinical and prognostic features among male and female patients with PBC.Materials and methods: 49 male patients with PBC treated at a Ger...

Authors: Wang L, Ke Q, Deng M, Huang X, Zeng J, Liu H, Yang Y, Zeng Y, Zhou W, Liu J Abstract Objective: To investigate the clinical value of the adjuvant transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after radical resection, and identify the potential beneficiaries. Methods: Patients were identified through the primary liver cancer big data (PLCBD) between 2012 and 2015. Overall survival (OS) between adjuvant TACE group and non-TACE was evaluated by Kaplan-Meier before and after propensity scoring match (PSM). Subgroup analysis was conducted stratified by risk factors. Results: A total of...

Authors: Hoffmann MA, Buchholz HG, Wieler HJ, Höfner T, Müller-Hübenthal J, Trampert L, Schreckenberger M Abstract Background: The aim of the present study is to analyze the efficacy of 68Gallium (Ga)-PSMA-11 PET/CT for detecting and localizing recurrent prostate carcinoma (PC) in patients with different prostate-specific antigen (PSA), PSA velocity (PSAvel) and doubling time (PSAdt). Results: The PR of 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT showed a positive relationship with PSA levels. Even at restaging PSA-values (PSAV) of lower than 0.2 ng/ml, PR was 41%. For PSAV of 0.2-
