66 How well do London ambulance assess potential T-LOC patients in comparison to nice guidance

Transient loss of consciousness is common, affecting up to 40% of the population at some point. Its assessment can be very complex because of the potential diagnoses, the inexperience of the front-line staff making the assessment and their concerns relating to risk. Literature  is available to suggest that assessment is often incomplete, with risk over-estimated, leading to unnecessary admissions and investigations. NICE, in 2010, detailed guidance on the management of this condition and EHRA have suggested methods to develop more efficient syncope clinics.
