Authors: Shin JY, Che DN, Cho BO, Kang HJ, Kim J, Jang SI Abstract Commiphora myrrha (Myrrh) is widely recognized for its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, which are utilized for the treatment of oral ulcers, gingivitis, sinusitis, glomerulonephritis, brucellosis and a variety of skin disorders. The current study aimed to assess whether myrrh modulates itch-associated interleukin (IL)-31 cytokine production and histamine release in stimulated human mast cells (HMC-1). To realize this, molecular biology techniques including real-time quantitiative PCR, western blotting and ELISA were employed. The resu...

Loss of the keratin cytoskeleton results in upregulation of the pro-inflammatory cytokine Tslp via autocrine Areg-Egfr-Erk1/2 signaling. The Areg-Egfr axis represents a therapeutical target to moderate Tslp, inflammation and itch in EBS.

ToddAbstractThe great majority of neurons in the superficial dorsal horn of the spinal cord are excitatory interneurons, and these are required for the normal perception of pain and itch. We have previously identified 5 largely non-overlapping populations among these cells, based on the expression of four different neuropeptides (cholecystokinin, neurotensin, neurokinin B and substance P) and of green fluorescent protein driven by the promoter for gastrin-re...

In this study, chondrocytes were isolated from the nucleus pulposus tissues, and the cells were treated with ginsenoside compounds and IL-1β, alone and in combination. Cell viability and death rate were assessed by CCK-8 and flow cytometry methods, respectively. PCR, western blot, and immunoprecipitation assays were performed to determine the mRNA and protein expression, and the interactions between proteins, respectively. Monomeric component of ginsenoside Rd had no toxicity at the tested range of concentrations. Furthermore, Rd suppressed the inflammatory response of chondrocytes to interleukin (IL)-1β by suppr...

Conclusions:We found altered PSG parameters in children with AD, suggesting that clinicians should consider the diagnosis when affected children undergo PSG. Although our AD cohort was mild, we still determined a need to consider AD when diagnosing PLMD given the presence of elevated total limb movements in children with AD.Citation:Treister AD, Stefek H, Grimaldi D, Rupani N, Zee P, Yob J, Sheldon S, Fishbein AB.
