VA Releases Veteran Suicide Statistics by State

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) released findings from its analysis of veteran suicide data in theirState Data report. They found that the risk for suicide is 22% higher for veterans than for non-veteran adults, that 65% of veterans who commit suicide are 50 or older, and that the highest rates of suicide are in Western states and in states with smaller populations.
