PET CT to Confirm an Infected Popliteal Stent Graft Used to Treat Popliteal Artery Aneurysm

A 70 year old male underwent elective percutaneous endovascular repair of a 33  mm asymptomatic left popliteal artery aneurysm using a Viabahn endoprosthesis (WL Gore& Associates, Flagstaff, AZ, USA) under local anaesthetic with antibiotic prophylaxis. This was complicated by severe undiagnosed left popliteal fossa pain that resolved. Four years later (2016), despite dual antiplatelet therapy, the stent graft occluded, but this was associated with mild claudication and was thus managed conservatively.
