To the Editor: The strongest predictor of melanoma survival is Breslow tumor thickness,1 which dictates the margins for wide local excision and whether sentinel lymph node biopsy is performed.2 If the skin biopsy of a melanoma is deeply transected, then the true Breslow depth is not known.
