Advances in Transdiagnostic Psychopathology Research: Introduction to the Special Issue

Mental disorder classification is foundational to both clinical and research endeavors. Recent years have seen an explosion of classification research, and significant advances have been made regarding how best to reconceptualize psychopathology in a data-driven way. These findings are frequently framed around transdiagnostic constructs – dimensional variables that cut across traditional diagnostic boundaries – and hold great potential for overcoming limitations of traditional categorical diagnoses (e.g., poor reliability and construct validity).
