Report: These KC metro counties face highest risk of opioid abuse
Kansas City has been hit hard by the opioid crisis, a report shows.
The Kansas Hospital Association and Missouri Hospital Association released a joint study on Tuesday looking at the link between unemployment and the risk of opioid dependence.
The study determined high-risk areas by looking at 10 years of unemployment data in both states, as well as drug-related deaths, morphine milligram equivalents prescribed per capita and opioid-related hospitalizations.
