Primary Mediastinal B-Cell Lymphoma

Primary Mediastinal Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma (PMBL) was initially described in the 1980s as a distinct clinicopathologic entity1. Since that time, our understanding of PMBL disease biology has increased dramatically and modern therapeutic regimens are associated with high cure rates. Clinically, PMBL presents as a rapidly growing dominant mediastinal mass, frequently accompanied by local invasion, pericardial/pleural effusions and superior vena cava syndrome; extranodal involvement at presentation is uncommon and bone marrow is almost never involved2.
