Authors: Li XH, Hu YM, Yin GL, Wu P Abstract Background and objective: Atrial electrical remodelling (AER) was significantly associated with atrial fibrillation (AF) development. Polymorphisms in hyperpolarization activated cyclic nucleotide gated potassium channel 4 (HCN4) gene might be correlated with AER. In the present study, we explored the association of HCN4 polymorphisms (rs498005 and rs7164883) with lone AF risk in a Chinese Han population. Methods: In this case-control study, the Sanger sequencing method was utilized to genotype the HCN4 polymorphisms. Relative risk of AF was assessed by the χ2 test, ...

We report a case where the heart was the predominantly affected organ. Cardiac involvement usually manifests with nonspecific ST-T changes in ECG. Here we report a case presented with ECG finding mimicking acute anteroseptal myocardial infarction which is extremely rare. PMID: 31317722 [PubMed - in process]

We report a 22 year old male who was admitted to our hospital with alleged history of consumption of monocrotophos poison and had presented with chest pain. His electrocardiogram (ECG) had showed ST segment elevation myocardial infarction and troponins were elevated. He also had low cholinesterase levels and was treated with pralidoxime and atropine and his condition improved. Cardiac catheterization showed patent coronaries. Acute coronary syndrome is a rare manifestation of organophosphorus compound (OPC) poisoning. The current case and subsequent review of literature tells us the need for close cardiac monitoring of all...

In this study, we investigated the influence of the plasminogen activator system involving urokinase and urokinase receptor on necrosis after acute myocardial infarction. Myocardial infarction and reperfusion were induced in mouse hearts using the in vitro Langendorff model. DNA fragmentation and cleaved caspase-3 activity in urokinase- (uPA-/-) and urokinase receptor-knockout mice (uPAR-/-) were determined and compared with those in wild-type mice using in situ nick-end DNA labeling (TUNEL) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, respectively. Infarct sizes were determined using propidium iodide and fluorescent microspher...
