In their systematic review on 5mm trocar-site herniation (1), Pereira and colleagues notice that “some professional organizations have provided guidelines [on trocar-site hernias] based on univariate and multivariate analyses of cohort studies. For example, the European Hernia Society recommends meticulous closure of the incised fascia in single-port surgery, though the evidence to support th is is weak.”
