[Guardian] Re-emerging infectious diseases such as Lassa fever, yellow fever, Ebola, measles, chicken pox, small pox, Dengue fever, viral hepatitis, Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV), polio, cold and influenza virus, among others are posing fresh threat to human existence. Unfortunately, conventional medicines are failing: the pathogens have developed resistance to the drugs-of-choice. AbstractBackgroundIn hemodialysis patients Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is one of the problems. Because of HBV vaccine response is lower than in the general population, in this study it is aimed to determine the factors that may cause inadequate HBV vaccine response in hemodialysis patients.MethodsIn study, HBsAg, anti-HBs, anti-HBc IgG data belonging to 278 patients were obtained from file and computer records. It was seen that seronegative cases had been given recombinant HBV vaccine. Anti-HBs titers were monitored 1  month after vaccination was completed. According to this, the patients are divided into two gr...

In conclusion, we report a low prevalence of anti-MERS antibodies in the general population, which coincides with the low number of all reported cases by the time of our study (2017) in Qatar (n = 21). The false-positive results and the observed cross-reactivity between MERS-CoV and other circulating human coronavirus necessitate more detailed evaluation of available serological assays. Abstract Recent advances indicate that there is crosstalk between allergic disorders and nucleic acid sensing. Triggers that activate inflammatory mechanisms via nucleic acid sensors affect both allergic phenotypes and anti-viral responses, depending on the timing and the order of exposure. Viral respiratory infections, such as those caused by the rhinovirus, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus, are the most frequent cause of significant asthma exacerbations through effects mediated predominantly by TLR3. However, agonists of other nucleic acid sensors, such as TLR7/8 and TLR9 agonists, may inhibit allergic...

Authors: Esforzado N, Morales JM Abstract Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a factor that reduces the survival of the patient and the graft in renal transplant (RT). The availability of directly acting antivirals agents (DAAs), very effective and with an excellent safety profile, it allows eradicate HCV from patients with kidney disease, and this is a revolutionary radical change in the natural evolution of this infection, until now without effective and safe treatment for the contraindication use of interferon in kidney transplant patients. The efficiency of some DAAs for all genotypes, even in patients with re...
