The removal of type 2 polio vaccine from Uganda's routine immunization program: lessons learned from an independent validation committee

Five years from now the world will hopefully celebrate the achievements made to save children from a vaccine-preventable disabling disease caused by a wild polio virus as a result of concerted effort by the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. During the 65th World Health Assembly, member states requested for a polio endgame to finish the job of polio eradication by 2018 with clear milestones, targets, and to consider completion of the polio game as a public health emergency of international concern.
