Rural Job Growth Continues Its Anemic Pace Compared to Metro

New data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that job growth in rural areas continues to lag behind the rest of the country. From June 2016 to June 2017, jobs in the largest metropolitan areas increased by about 2%. In rural counties, jobs increased by only about 0.29%, and for counties that are not adjacent to any metropolitan area, jobs decreased slightly. Includes aninteractive map with county-by-county data.
