Consensus Report by PALISI and PBMTC Joint Working Committees, Supportive Care Guidelines for Management of VOD in Children and Adolescents: Part 2 - Focus on Ascites; Fluids, Electrolytes, Renal and Transfusion Issues.

This report highlights the importance of fluid, electrolytes and renal dysfunction in the management of VOD, and gives a time line for renal replacement therapy initiation.• The strategies for prevention, diagnosis and management of fluid overload are discussed• The management of peritoneal and pleural effusion is discussed along with abdominal compartment syndrome and strategies to avoid paracentesis-induced circulatory dysfunction.• Indications for blood and platelets transfusion are presented, along with the role of TEG / ROTEM in the management of VOD• Approach to a VOD patient with acute bleeding is outlined.
