Campylobacter fetus Pleuropneumonia and Bacteremia in an Adult Immunocompetent Patient

Campylobacter fetus is a commensal in the intestinal tract of many domestic animals but can also cause infections in animals and humans [1]. Campylobacter species usually cause acute gastrointestinal infections, with Campylobacter jejuni being the most frequent cause. C. fetus is rarely isolated and mainly causes infections in neonates, elderly persons, immunocompromised patients, and those having underlying chronic diseases [2]. Few cases of C. fetus infection in immunocompetent individuals have been reported [3,4].
