In this study, we evaluated the utility of dopamine transporter (DAT) imaging and subthalamic nucleus (STN) activities as indicators of PD severity.Materials and methodsTwelve hemispheres of ten patients with PD who underwent deep brain stimulation (DBS) were included in this study. Movement Disorder Society-Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) part 3 scores were used to evaluate clinical severity. The relationship between specific binding ratio (SBR) of DAT imaging and the root mean square (RMS) of STN micro-electrode recording (MER) was evaluated.ResultsA negative correlation was detected between the MDS-...

CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate that, although persons with disabilities can exhibit a wide functional range, they remain at risk of PUs and should be evaluated for proper preventive measures, including support surfaces and wheelchair cushions. PMID: 32058440 [PubMed - in process]

ConclusionCBS contains analogous types and amounts of constituents and exerts approximate therapeutic effects compared to the NCB, thus the CBS might be used as the sustainable substitute of NCB. Furthermore, configuration and concentration of bile acids and bilirubin in C. bovis are responsible for the difference of pharmacological effects in four types C. bovis. The next study should focus on the structure-function relationship of bile acids and bilirubin in C. bovis by pharmacokinetics.Graphical abstract

This study aimed to investigate the potential roles of Nogo-A/Nogo-66 receptor 1 (NgR1) in autophagic activation in the ipsilateral thalamus after cerebral infarction. Focal neocortical infarction was established using the middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) method. Secondary damage in the ipsilateral thalamus was assessed by Nissl staining and immunostaining. The expression of Nogo-A, NgR1, Rho-A and Rho-associated coiled-coil containing protein kinase 1 (ROCK1) as well as autophagic flux were evaluated by immunofluorescence and immunoblotting. The roles of Nogo-A-NgR1 signaling in autophagic activation were determine...

Authors: Xie X, Li T Abstract Objective: We investigated the risk of ischaemic stroke in patients with 1 another stroke risk factor (i.e. CHA2DS2-VASc score =1 [males] or 2 [females]) and the impact of different component risk factors. Methods: Database were collected from two hospitals in the city of Hohhot in china. Among 3148 Nonvalvular AF patients not on antiplatelet or anticoagulant therapy, we evaluated males with a CHA2DS2-VASc score of 1 and females with a CHA2DS2-VASc score of 2. The clinical endpoint was the occurrence of ischaemic stroke. Results: Among 546 AF male patients with a CHA2DS2-VASc scor...

Authors: Toyoda S, Tokoi S, Takekawa H, Matsumoto H, Inami S, Sakuma M, Arikawa T, Abe S, Nakajima T, Hirata K, Inoue T Abstract BACKGROUND: Although flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD) of brachial artery and carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) are important surrogate markers in the process of atherosclerosis, information about relationship between both markers is insufficient. In the present study, we assessed extensively the relationship in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). METHODS: The values of brachial FMD and carotid ultrasonography findings in 159 patients (67±8 yr, 130 males) with angiog...

CONCLUSIONS &IMPLICATIONS: To provide accurate figures on the potential need for and use of AAC, data need to be consistently and accurately recorded and regularly reviewed at a community level. The existing data suggest an urgent need for more accurate and up to date information to be captured about the need for AAC in the UK to provide better services and ensure access to AAC strategies, equipment and support.
