Keloids are abnormal fibroproliferative scars that pose a significant challenge to patients and clinicians. The molecular basis for keloid formation remains incompletely understood, and currently no universally effective treatments exist. It is well recognized that keloids are more prevalent in populations with darkly pigmented skin, such as African Americans, but the basis for the link between skin color and keloid risk is not known

Abstract This is a transverse and retrospective descriptive study carried out on a quantitative and qualitative component on pathological scars after a second ear piercing for aesthetic purposes in a Negroid female population from an endemic area of keloids. Abstract In 2006, we established a scar/keloid-specialized institution in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery at Nippon Medical School (NMS) in Tokyo, Japan. ConclusionsSubbrow lift utilizing the frontalis muscle attachment to the lower flap orbicularis muscle is a novel method of correcting upper eyelid skin hooding. The technique does not rely on periosteal fixation. Therefore, the eyebrow gliding plane is not violated. Thus, the natural eyebrow movement is maintained.
