Fluoride varnish every six months helps protect children ' s permanent teeth from decay

Expert commentary is provided for an RCT which found no difference in the proportion of molar teeth that developed decay with fluoride varnish vs fissure sealant. As varnish is cheaper, a prevention programme using this will be able to reach more children.
