CONCLUSIONS: Most patients eligible for AAA repair present with baseline erectile and sexual dysfunction. Laparoscopic AAA repair provides no onset of erectile or sexual dysfunction but a global improvement after surgery. Ejaculation troubles are frequent and persistent at 1 year. However, EVAR treatment, doesn't allow recovering of sexual function at 1 year. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 4. PMID: 31959570 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Zheng A, Ma H, Liu X, Huang Q, Li Z, Wang L, Zeng N, Wu B Abstract Context: Burn therapy (MEBT)/moist exposed burn ointment (MEBO) is an effective traditional Chinese medicine method to treat diabetic wound, but the mechanism is unclear. Autophagy has been proved to be closely related with wound healing, so MEBO/MEBT is hypothesized to promote diabetic wound healing by regulating autophagy. Objective: To explore the mechanism of moist exposed MEBT/MEBO promoting diabetic wound repair.Materials and methods: Eighty male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to control (n = 20) and diabetic group in...

CONCLUSION: In the technique of double-row repair, using a 3-suture anchor configuration may offer a non-inferior alternative to the standard 4-anchor construct in terms of efficacy. This may also result in overall cost reduction and shorter surgical time. PMID: 31966965 [PubMed]

Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a persistent sinonasal mucosa inflammatory disease with still unclear pathophysiologic mechanisms that imply events of tissue repair and structural remodelling. Several cascades seem to have a considerable role in the onset and progression of mucosa hyperproliferation in nasal polyps including transforming growth factor β/Small mother against decapentaplegic (TGFβ/Smads), mitogenactivated protein kinases (MAPKs), advanced glycosylation end-products (AGEs) together with epithelial-tomesenchymal transition (EMT). Since many inflammatory mediators are reported to ...

BRCA1 plays an important role in DNA damage repair. The study aims to explore the effect of BRCA1 in endothelial cells involved in RIHD.Materials and methodsBRCA1 and p21 expression were detected in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and in mouse heart tissue after irradiation exposure. The effects of BRCA1 on cell prolif...

In this study, we determined and quantified the transcriptomes of Arthrobotrys oligospora, a nematode-trapping fungus, derived from samples of fresh conidia, germinated conidia, soil fungistatic conidia, and glucose-relieved conidia. The transcriptomes of fungistatic and glucose-relieved conidia were significantly different from those of the other two conidia samples. KEGG pathway analyses showed that those genes upregulated in fungistatic and glucose-relieved conidia were mainly involved in translation and substance metabolism, and the downregulated genes were mainly involved in MAPK pathway, autophagy, mitophagy, and end...
