Dr Richard Piper appointed new CEO of Alcohol Research UK

Alcohol Research UK is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Richard Piper as its new Chief Executive with effect from September 2017. Richard, former Chief Executive of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, has over 25 years’ experience in the sector, 13 of them as a director, CEO and trustee. His career includes seven years at NCVO and most recently 18 months as Director of Impact Transformation at Mencap. He is currently a trustee of the Children’s Chronic Arthritis Association and the Royal College of Nurses Foundation. Professor Alan Maryon-Davis, Chair of Alcohol Research UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard as our new CEO. He has a particular strength in developing strategic vision and optimising impact and he joins us at a time of major change as we forge a new way forward following the successful merger of Alcohol Research UK and Alcohol Concern.” Commenting on his appointment, Richard Piper, said: “I am delighted to be joining this major new force in the charity sector, created by the merger of Alcohol Research UK and Alcohol Concern. The task facing us is huge.
