It can't reach its target because it's blocked by the blood-brain barrier, and the conventional formulation for this drug is toxic to the brain. But now scientists have used a novel technology for opening the blood-brain barrier with an implantable ultrasound, and delivered the powerful drug to the tumor in mice. Scientists also identified why drug is toxic and tested a new formulation not harmful to the brain.

ConclusionsOur data suggest that the investigated brain tumors had an intact BBTB, which is impermeable to anticancer drugs, which are dual ABCB1/ABCG2 substrates. Conclusion.We suggest that gliomas with astroblastic features include a variety of molecularly sharply defined entities. Adult ABM harboring molecular features of PXA and HGG should be reclassified. Central nervous system high‐grade neuroepithelial tumors with MN1 alterations and histology of ABM appear to be uncommon in adults. We present a contemporary analysis of risk of fatal stroke among more than 7.5 million cancer patients and report that stroke risk varies as a function of disease site, age, gender, marital status, and time after diagnosis. The risk of stroke among cancer patients is two times that of the general population and rises with longer follow-up time.
