CONCLUSION: The unique open ring enhancement pattern of this lesion on initial imaging is highly specific for a demyelinating process, however, high-grade glial neoplasms can also present with complex and irregular ring enhancement including an open ring sign. This study investigates the use of photoplethysmography (PPG) as a comfortable alternative to electrocardiography (ECG) for heart rate variability (HRV) analysis. ConclusionThis case represents a critical vascular injury from an unexpected mechanism. Inferior glenohumeral dislocations, regardless of injury mechanism, should raise the index of suspicion for vascular involvement. Endovascular repair in our patient was life-saving given her advanced age, acute blood loss anemia, rarity and severity of her injuries and multiple medical comorbidities.

A 64-year-old woman with a history of cirrhosis and progressive difficulty breathing underwent pulmonary ventilation/perfusion SPECT to evaluate possible pulmonary embolism. The images demonstrated multiple mismatched ventilation/perfusion defects in both lungs, suggesting pulmonary embolism. However, there was also 99mTc-MAA radioactivity in the brain and bilateral kidney, with a right-to-left shunting rate of 8.8%. In addition, CT pulmonary angiography did not demonstrate embolus. The findings indicated that perfusion defects were caused by hepatopulmonary syndrome.
