Prognostic factors in renal cancer with venous thrombus survival analysis.

CONCLUSIONS: Surgical treatment of renal cancer with venous thrombus requires a multidisciplinary management. The surgical technique varies according to the level reached by the venous thrombus. Tumor stage is the most important prognostic factor. Thrombus level influences prognosis, with longer survival for patients with tumor thrombus confined to the renal vein (pT3a) in comparison to tumors with thrombus in the atrium (pT3c). Objective The aim of the study was to determine the relationships between functional outcomes, clinical symptoms, and health-related quality of life among patients with malignant brain tumors receiving interdisciplinary outpatient rehabilitation. Design A prospective study of 49 adults with malignant brain tumors participating in outpatient therapies was performed. Outcome measures included the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Brain (FACT-Br) for health-related quality of life and the Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Instrument Survey (PROMIS) Depression and Pain Behavior scales measured at admission, discharg...

Fat necrosis of the breast is a common benign entity with imaging features and clinical findings that can mimic breast cancer, requiring biopsy for diagnosis.1 Fat necrosis initially was described in 1920 as the result of blunt trauma to the breast. With the growing number of reduction mammoplasty procedures, radiation therapy, breast conserving procedures, and reconstructive surgical procedures, fat necrosis now is encountered frequently in daily radiology practice.1 Fat necrosis has widely varied presentations on breast imaging during its many stages of evolution.1 Hence, it is important for radiologists to be familiar w...

The Radiology Society of North America will introduce machine learning labs at this year ’s meeting as an effort to increase exposure of the technology throughout the field. “No question — machine learning will change the way radiologists practice in the years ahead, sometimes dramatically. But there is much work to be done before ML becomes common place,”said Curtis Langlotz, MD, PhD, the RSNA board liaison for information technology and annual meeting. Machine learning could help streamline data processing for large image datasets. Institutions like Stanford University are working toward impl...

In conclusion, we demonstrate that MYBL1 rearrangements and MYB amplification likely constitute alternative genetic drivers of breast AdCCs, functioning through MYBL1 or MYB overexpression. These observations emphasize that breast AdCCs likely constitute a convergent phenotype, whereby activation of MYB/MYBL1 and their downstream targets can be driven by the MYB‐NFIB fusion gene, MYBL1 rearrangements, MYB amplification or other yet to be identified mechanisms.

Conclusion: An apple juice and a grape fruit juice showed strong inhibitory effects on doxorubicin metabolism by CBR1 in vitro. These results suggest that the intake of flavonoid-containing juices can be a promising measure for protection against doxorubicin-induced cardiac toxicity, enabling patients to keep higher adherence with routine use in light of safety, economic performance and stable supply to market.
